Friends of Viroqua Area Hockey Association to Meet and Share Memories

In September 2014, several folks involved in the building of the Viroqua Community Arena gathered and tossed around the idea of forming a group called “The Friends of the Viroqua Area Hockey Association” (FOVAHA). The goal of FOVAHA is to raise funds on an annual basis in order to help support the youth programs at the Viroqua Community Arena.

Thanks to many benefactors, Viroqua is one of two arenas in the state that is self-supported through the generous volunteer efforts of our membership and the generous support from the community.  We are proud that we are able to field teams for every age group with youth from Viroqua, Westby, La Farge, Cashton, Genoa, Stoddard, Soldiers Grove, Coon Valley and Gays Mills participating.

FOVAHA would like to invite everyone who has a connection to Viroqua Area Hockey Association to come and share a memory at the Viroqua Community Arena on Wednesday, November 26th, 2014.  This event will be held in conjunction with the Annual Alumni Hockey Games that begin at 6:45 pm and is a fundraiser for Viroqua High School Hockey Teams.

This year is the 50th Anniversary since Jim Jeffrey led the charge to begin the program with other supporters including, Dr. Joe Day, Bert Gebert, Larry Dock, Dr. George Piper, and Marv Beier joined him. Consider joining us now to keep their vision and efforts affordable and accessible to all youth.

There will be food and fellowship beginning at 6  p.m.  If you cannot make it but would like to contribute, please contact the arena for information at 608-637-8661.
