Gamesheet for Team Managers
GameSheet has replaced paper scorekeeping for Wisconsin youth hockey at level U14 and below. Team Managers are responsible for making sure their teams are using GameSheet and that games are being properly scored.
Gamesheet Dashboard vs iPad Scoring App
There are two different components to GameSheet: The GameSheet Dashboard and the GameSheet iPad Scoring App.
GameSheet Dashboard
- Used by Team Managers to setup games for scorekeeping
- Accessed via a web browser from any device
- Not used by parents unless they want to use the public site to see standings
- Access is distributed to Team Managers at the beginning of the season
- The rosters, coaches, and games are Team Managers enter into this app are used to populate the iPad Scoring App
GameSheet iPad Scoring App
- Used by parents in the scorekeeper box to score games
- Only accessible via the iPad in the scorekeeper booth
- Not used by Team Managers, unless they are scoring the game
- Access does not need to be granted, anyone can access the app on the iPad
- Requires that the roster, coaches, and games are entered in the GameSheet Dashboard before the games can be scored
The role of Team Managers
Team Managers have several different roles for GameSheet.
Season Setup
At the beginning of the season, Team Managers need to fill out their teams. This involves a couple of steps:
- Creating a GameSheet account (if you don't already have one)
- Accepting the invite for the Team Manager (allows you to create the roster and add coaches)
- Accepting the invite for the Scheduler role (allows you to schedule games)
- Filling out the roster and coaches
- Schedule all home games
This should be completed as early as possible in the season.
Initial Training
Team Managers are responsible for making sure volunteer parents understand the GameSheet iPad Scoring App. While scoring a game itself is fairly straightforward -- finding games, doing initial game setup, and post-game wrap up is less intuitive.
The best way to ensure they are prepared is by running a training at the start of the season. A sample game can be created and parents can test it out prior to attempting to score a real game.
Throughout the Season
As the season progresses, the Team Manager needs to ensure the following:
- Parent reps are ready for each game and are using the App
- They are successfully submitting the game via the App once the game is complete
- As additional home games are scheduled, they must create the games in the Dashboard App
