Learn to Skate
Ready to get your child started on the ice? Our Learn to Skate program is a great way for kids to build confidence and have fun while learning the basics. Whether they’re interested in hockey or just want to skate for fun, our coaches will guide them through essential skills in a safe and supportive setting.
We mix drills with games to keep things engaging, and along the way, your skater will improve balance, coordination, and comfort on the ice. No experience is needed, just bring a helmet, warm clothes, and a positive attitude.
Sign up today and let them discover the joy of skating!

Frequently Asked Questions
Does my child need prior skating experience?
No experience is necessary! This program is for beginners.
How do we choose between Learn to Skate or Mites?
The general guidelines are that Mites are between the ages of 6-8 and have completed at least 1 year of Learn to Skate. If you are unsure or have any questions, please contact us.
What should we bring?
Just the equipment!
How should skaters dress?
Skaters should wear flexible/comfortable clothing under their equipment.
How should parents dress?
It depends! If you would like to view the sessions from the lobby, you can wear whatever. If you would like to view it from the bleachers, dress extra warm as our rink is very cold!
How early should we arrive?
If you are familiar with hockey equipment, 15 minutes is plenty of time. If not, you should give yourselves 30 minutes.
We have no idea how hockey equipment works, will anyone be around to help?
There will be lots of friendly parents in the lobby, feel free to ask any of them for advice or help. There is also plenty of content online that can help you prepare!
Can we join late or do drop-ins?
Yes, you can register after the program has begun but registration does close on December 20th. Drop-ins are not allowed -- all skaters must be registered.
Do I need to register through USA Hockey or Learn to Skate USA?
The only registration required is USA Hockey.
Can I go on the ice with my child?
For safety reasons, only coaches and staff are allowed on the ice.
Will my child learn to skate AND learn to play hockey?
The first half of the program focuses on skating only while the latter half introduces sticks and pucks.
Can I sign up multiple children?
Absolutely! The more the merrier.
Who should we contact if we have questions?
